Big Data – a Reality Check

Everyone talks about it, nobody really knows how to do it, everyone thinks everyone else is doing it, so everyone claims they are doing it… sound familiar? This is what Big Data has been about: come join us to hear about the realities during this keynote fireside chat with Anirudh Koul. Anirudh has not only won over two dozen innovation, programming & 24 hour hackathon contests from companies including Facebook, Google, Microsoft, IBM, Yahoo & National Geographic Channel, he also is a key member of Microsoft’s Team dedicated to make sense of all the social data and signals to help improve their products. Frank was a core member of the Yahoo! team that built their EU local search engine from scratch, before joining Yahoo! Answers in London where amongst other things he worked closely with Koul on a large scale community moderation system or co-authored a patented content routing engine. Today he is a Microsoft OSS Evangelist (Operating Systems & Services) where he is charged to drive increased awareness of the Microsoft consumer experience and help increased platform and tool adoption for Microsoft’s OS and services portfolio.
